All Koreans Urged to Remain True to Idea of "By Our Nation Itself"

Pyongyang, January 9 (KCNA) -- All the Koreans in the north and the south and overseas should regard "By our nation itself" as the basic idea of the national reunification movement and fully embody it in order to bring about phenomenal progress in the development of the national reunification movement this year.

Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a signed article.

"By our nation itself" serves as basic idea of the national reunification movement as it serves as a steadfast idea of national independence and national unity, it notes, and goes on:

Since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration the vitality of "By our nation itself" has been clearly proved as the idea of national independence in the national reunification movement.

This year the Korean nation should fully embody the idea of "By our nation itself" in the national reunification movement, holding aloft the banner of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.

In order to embody the above-said idea in the national reunification movement, one should take the proper attitude of giving priority to one's own nation and protecting its interests on the principle of national independence. And all the fellow countrymen should decisively foil the moves of the anti-reunification forces that are going against the trend of the times towards independent reunification obsessed with sycophancy towards the U.S. and hostility towards the fellow countrymen.
