Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- A Norwegian preparatory committee for commemorating the Day of the Sun and February 16, the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il, was formed on Jan. 14 while the Ukrainian national preparatory committee for celebrating February 16 was formed on Jan. 12.
Torstein Engelskjon, chairman of the Friendship Society Norway-Korea, was selected chairman of the Norwegian preparatory committee while Nikolai Polishk, chairman of the Ukrainian "Treasured Sword of Songun" Association for the Study of the Juche Idea and chairman of the Ukraine-DPRK Association, was selected chairman of the Ukrainian national preparatory committee at the ceremonies.
The Norwegian committee set a commemoration and celebration period from Feb. 1 to April 20 and decided to hold colorful events such as a meeting for remembering President Kim Il Sung and a film show in the period.
The Ukrainian committee decided to hold political and cultural events such as a national seminar on the Juche idea and the Songun politics, a lecture, a film show and a DPRK book, photo and handicraft exhibition on the occasion of the February holiday.
