A resolution read out there recalled that all the people in south Korea firmly united and vigorously struggled to make 2008 a year for ushering in a new era of independent reunification, peace and prosperity.

The Lee Myung Bak regime is working with bloodshot eyes to escalate the confrontation and tension on the Korean Peninsula, totally negating the historic declarations on reunification in reliance upon foreign forces, though the era and the nation this year are calling for accelerating the independent reunification through the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, the resolution charged.

Declaring that the people would launch a fresh dynamic struggle for ushering in the era of people's sovereignty and achieving independent reunification, the resolution continued:

This year we will wage an all-out struggle for forcing the Lee Myung Bak regime to step down in order to shatter the moves of the south Korean authorities to violate democracy and scrap the above-said declarations and thus make a new history of achieving the people’s sovereignty.

We will put the struggle for upholding and implementing the historic reunification declarations, forcing the U.S. troops to pull out of south Korea and demanding the U.S. conclude a peace agreement on the Korean Peninsula on a new high stage and thus have the shackling "south Korea-U.S." alliance abolished and a peace-keeping mechanism established free from the U.S. forces.

The resolution called for waging an all-out struggle for the resignation of the Lee regime under the uplifted banner of the above-said declarations and bring about a new phase of peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula in 2009.
