The forces for independence, progress and peace are rapidly growing stronger in confrontation between the progressive and the reactionary, independence and domination, justice and injustice, and desire for peace and war scheme and the international balance of forces is changing more favorably for the anti-imperialist independent forces.

One of the important features in the world situation last year is that the Latin American people worked hard to defend socialism from the imperialist's obstruction and embody its noble idea, well aware that it is most just to take road to socialism.

Another important feature is that the anti-imperialist struggle was vigorously staged on a world-wide scale.

The world people who value justice and peace carried on the struggle protesting against the imperialists' policy of arms buildup and demanding the removal of aggressive military bases and foreign troops from other countries.

Developing countries intensified in unity and cooperation with each other the activities to attain the common objective for the independent development and prosperity.

The process of integration and unification was pushed ahead in various regions of the world.

The trend of the world was developing toward multipolarization despite of the imperialists' moves to build a unipolar world. Developing countries became the more considerable force in the international arena and played bigger role in accelerating multipolarization of the world.

The initiative in developing history has been taken by the peoples. The year 2009, too, will advance along the road of independence.
