Kim Jong Il Appreciates Performance

Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il appreciated a performance given by the song and dance ensembles of the KPA Naval Command and the Air Command. Their artistes put on the stage female quartet "The General Is among Soldiers", dialogic poem "Unforgettable Sailing to Cho Islet", instrumental music and song "The Sound of a Horse's Hooves in Mt. Paektu", mixed duet and pangchang "Arirang of Army-People Unity", male solo "Soldiers Live Near the General", dance "Seamen Who Protected Slogan-Bearing Trees", mixed small chorus "We Will Be 7th Regiment Today" and other colorful numbers of various genres. The performers truthfully represented the invincible might of the heroic Korean People's Army which has grown to be a matchless army under the loving care of Kim Jong Il, an illustrious commander, and the strong faith and will of the servicepersons of the KPA to devotedly safeguard the headquarters of the revolution and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche with arms. He expressed great satisfaction over the splendid performance given by the above-said artistes as befitting artistes of the revolutionary army and highly praised them for their successes made in conducting revolutionary and militant performing activities instilling into servicepersons the conviction of sure victory and optimism and the spirit and courage to wipe out the enemy. After acquainting himself in detail with the activities of the ensembles, he set forth important tasks to be implemented by them to further intensify the performing activities among servicepersons. Among the audience were Generals of the KPA Hyon Chol Hae, Kim Myong Guk and Ri Myong Su, Senior Vice Admiral Jong Myong Do, commander of the Navy, and Colonel General Ri Pyong Chol, commander of the Air Force, and other commanding officers of the army, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the C.C., the WPK, Jang Song Thaek and Kim Yang Gon, department directors of the C.C., the WPK, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Ri Je Gang and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the C.C., the WPK, and Kim Ki Ryong, director general of the Korean Central News Agency, and Cha Sung Su, chairman of the Central Broadcasting Committee of Korea, and other leading officials. |
