The DPRK has made every sincere effort to protect peace and security in Northeast Asia in the past.

Military tension in Northeast Asia is inching close to a more acute phase as the days go by, far from easing. This is entirely attributable to the U.S. Asia-Pacific strategy for aggression.

It is the calculation of the U.S. imperialists that they cannot realize their scenario for world domination without putting under their control the Asia-Pacific which abounds in natural resources, markets and manpower and is located in the region of military and strategic importance.

The U.S. warmongers seek to ensure the upper-hand of strength and reinforce their strategic position in Northeast Asia and start another Korean war in a bid to get rid of their political and economic crises and build a uni-polar world.

Nothing is more urgent at present than ensuring peace on the Korean Peninsula in Northeast Asia.

In order to achieve peace in Northeast Asia, it is important, first of all, to get foreign military bases dismantled and foreign troops withdrawn from the region and foil the imperialists' moves for domination and interference.

Peace in Northeast Asia can be achieved only through the concerted efforts and common struggle of the people of the countries in the region. They should check and frustrate the moves of the aggressor forces for war by their concerted efforts.

A war has not broken out but peace has been preserved in Northeast Asia including the Korean Peninsula so far entirely thanks to the efforts exerted by the DPRK to bolster its military deterrent. Had the DPRK not reacted to the U.S. offensive to stifle it with nuclear weapons by increasing its self-reliant defence capability, the Korean Peninsula would have already turned into a theatre of a nuclear war, bringing nuclear disasters not only to Northeast Asia but to the rest of the world.

The Korean people will as ever intensify the struggle against the imperialists' aggression and war moves to ensure peace and security in Northeast Asia including the Korean Peninsula and the rest of the world and thus positively contribute to the human cause of peace and independence.
