Anniversary of Victory of Islamic Revolution in Iran Marked

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- A meeting and film show took place at the Chollima Hall of Culture on Feb. 2 to mark the 30th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran. Present there on invitation were Morteza Moradian, Iranian ambassador to the DPRK, and staff members of his embassy. Jong Yong Su, minister of Labour, who is chairman of the DPRK-Iran Friendship Association, addressing the meeting, said that the Iranian people have registered many successes in the efforts to develop economy and improve the standard of the people's living since the victory of revolution, smashing the U.S. hostile moves against Iran. President Kim Il Sung paid deep attention to boosting the relations with Iran and laid firm foundation for the bilateral relations of friendship together with Iranian leaders, he said. The government and people of Iran have exerted positive efforts to defend the sovereignty of the country, develop the economy and ensure the peace and stability of the region under the leadership of Seyed Ali Khamenei, leader of the Islamic revolution, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, president of Iran, he noted. He expressed full support and firm solidarity with the principled stand of the government and people of Iran on the nuclear activities for peaceful purposes. Morteza Moradian in his speech said that Iran and the DPRK have supported each other in the international arena as they have the same stand. He said that the Korean people are making energetic endeavors to make a new great leap forward, overcoming difficulties under the wise leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il. The Iranian government is paying a special attention to the development of the cooperative relations with the government of the DPRK, he noted, expressing the belief that the Korean people would achieve signal progress in various fields and continue to emerge victorious in the anti-imperialist struggle, adhering to independence and principle. At the end of the meeting, the participants watched an Iranian film. |
