Kim Jong Il Enjoys Song and Dance Performance Given by Artistes

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il appreciated a song and dance performance given by artistes of the South Hamgyong Provincial Art Troupe. Among the audience were Secretary Kim Ki Nam, Department Directors Jang Song Thaek and Pak Nam Gi and other leading officials of the WPK Central Committee and KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su and other commanding officers of the army. The art troupe put on the stage female solo "Cantata to Comrade Kim Jong Il", dance "The Glow over Kangson", female solo and chorus "Song of Front Rankers in Chollima Movement" and other colorful numbers. The performers truthfully represented the revolutionary stamina and optimism, the faith in sure victory and the indomitable will of the Korean people dynamically advancing towards the eminence of a great prosperous and powerful nation, holding high the torch of a new revolutionary surge lit by Kim Jong Il waved back to the enthusiastically cheering performers and audience and congratulated the artistes on their successful presentation. He highly appreciated the success made in the performance and extended thanks to the artistes, expressing great satisfaction over the splendid performance of high ideological value and artistry given by them. He gave a high appreciation of the feats performed by the above-said art troupe with a long history, noting that it greatly contributed to the art creation including the production of revolutionary operas in the past and has created many excellent works high in ideological value and artistry as required by the new century by steadily giving full play to the WPK's original principles and traits of creating art works which had been embodied when the five revolutionary operas were produced, thereby creditably fulfilling its mission and duty as a true creator and firm protector of the socialist culture and arts. He repeatedly praised the earnest creative attitude of the artistes of the troupe, noting that they could steadily raise their level of representation by devoting all their wisdom and enthusiasm to the tenacious drive to raise their artistic ability. It is the basic mission of the Juche-based art to help people acquire genuine idea, morality and culture necessary for leading an independent life as human beings, he said, setting forth highly important tasks for further developing the arts as required by the Songun era. |
