Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- On Feb. 2 Iran launched its indigenously manufactured carrier rocket, putting its satellite for scientific research and communication into orbit on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran. Iran put its satellites into orbit in 2005 and 2008 by rockets of Russia and China. But this time Iran succeeded in launching its third satellite entirely on its own. Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes in a signed commentary in this regard: Iran's recent satellite launch has not only demonstrated her national power but shown before the world that there can be no longer any monopoly of space development and its use. Iran has shown its will to take a more positive part in the race for advancing into space, defying any accusations of the above-said satellite launch by the United States and other Western countries, the commentary notes, and goes on: No one should be allowed to take issue with space development and its use or stand in their way as long as they are of peaceful nature and regarded as helpful to promoting the welfare of humankind. Any country which stands for the peaceful use of space is entitled to advance into space any time and use it for peaceful purposes. The DPRK, a member of the international community, has an option to advance into space and a legitimate right to participate in the space scientific and technological race. It is the DPRK's stand and policy to make a positive use of space resources, wealth common to humankind, in an effort to enable the Korean people to lead a highly civilized and bountiful material and cultural life and bring bright future to the Korean nation. The DPRK has already set up institutions specializing in space research and development for peaceful purposes. The DPRK's scientists and technicians are now energetically pushing ahead with the work to make a peaceful use of space as required by the developing reality and the international trend. The DPRK's policy of advance into space and its use for peaceful purposes is just as it meets the requirements of the developing times and no force on earth can block this, concludes the commentary. |
