Present there were Nam Sung U and Pae Ik Ju, vice-chairmen of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), and other leading officials of Chongryon and the Korean Amateur Athletic Federation in Japan and Korean sportspersons in Japan.

On hand were the representatives of the Olympic Committee and sports organizations of different events in Japan and members of the International Olympic Committee and others concerned.

Speaking at the meeting, Kim Ro Hyon, chairman of the Korean Amateur Athletic Federation in Japan, noted that last year the Korean sportspersons in Japan proved successful at games.

Recalling that the Japanese authorities have barred the DPRK players from participating in international games held in Japan in recent years, pursuant to the hostile policy toward the DPRK, he said: Such unreasonable steps should be rectified immediately.

The chairman of the Olympic Committee of Japan, speaking next, expressed his determination to continue making efforts to boost the Japan-DPRK friendship through sports activities.
