Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- To make Japan liquidate its past is the work to correct history and achieve peace and prosperity in Asia and the rest of the world. Rodong Sinmun today observes this in a signed article. It goes on: Though many years have passed since the defeat of the Japanese imperialists, the wound of history in the last century which underwent hardships subject to the high-handed practices and violence by the Japanese imperialists remains unhealed and the grudge of the victims against them has grown bitterer. The war of aggression and hideous human rights abuses committed by Japan in the past are being openly negated, distorted and whitewashed, and nationalism and militarism are being instilled into the rising generations in Japan. Japan has steadily perfected the legal and institutional mechanism as a war state. It should no longer be allowed to evade the settlement of its past, become a military giant and launch overseas expansion. The prevailing situation calls for waging vigorous movement to reveal the truth about Japan’s hideous human rights abuses and force it to redeem them in an international scale. To the end, it is necessary, among other things, to escalate the struggle for demanding the Japanese government completely open to the pubic all the documents and data related to the past crimes committed by Japan. It is also necessary to disclose the truths about Japan’s hideous human rights abuses by employing every possible channel and way. What is particularly necessary here is for world broad human rights and peace-defending bodies and others to conduct in a big way various activities such as building up public opinion to force Japan to liquidate its past on the international arenas including the UN in firm solidarity and an international signature campaign while waging unrelenting struggle until Japan redresses its past. The ranks of the international solidarity council demanding the settlement of Japan’s past should be increased and its function and role be enhanced. The peace-loving people in Asia and the rest of the world should achieve firm unity and escalate the struggle to demand Japan redress its past. |
