The great revolutionary surge now being effected is a successful inheritance of the tradition of a great upswing in the 1950s which helped glorify the DPRK as the "country of Chollima" and demonstrate its dignity as an invincible socialist power and a new general onward movement to usher in a great heyday of the Workers' Party of Korea and the revolution and achieve a great victory in the building of a great prosperous and powerful nation in the 21st century.

Kim Jong Il kindled the torch of a new great revolutionary surge in Kangson, the birthplace of the Chollima movement, on December 24 last year. This marked a historic event which brought about the same epochal turning point in the development of the WPK and the revolution as the President did in December 1956, giving origin to the great Chollima movement.

This reflected the WPK's unshakable will to surely build a great prosperous and powerful nation in this land by racing against the time and dashing forward like the wind with the same vim and vigor as they displayed when building a powerful country, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence through the great Chollima surge on debris in the post-war days.

The tradition of great upswing being inherited by the Korean people is a tradition of the single-minded unity as it helps to work world-startling miracles, single-mindedly united with the great leader and the great Party, a tradition of self-reliance which calls for carving out a rosy future by their own efforts with high sense of national esteem and a tradition of popular heroism which encourages them to make a history of great miracles and changes with the might of collectivism.

The tradition of great revolutionary surge has been successfully carried forward generation after generation in the DPRK as the Party and the revolution are led by Kim Jong Il.

He is creating a new history of prosperity by inheriting the tradition of great revolutionary surge. His leadership is bold and dynamic as it helps give fullest play to the mental power of the popular masses and set an example in the times and makes the whole country follow it and work out grandiose plans and high goals and materialize them successfully.

The Korean people have keenly realized while covering the triumphant road of socialism for several decades under the leadership of Kim Jong Il how the tradition of great revolutionary surge has been inherited and how rapidly their country has developed and grown strong in the course of carrying it forward successfully.
