National Art Exhibition Opens
Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- A national art exhibition was opened on the occasion of the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il which falls on February 16.

Displayed in the venue of the exhibition are at least 70 works listed as national treasures and other art works depicting the revolutionary feats of the three commanders of Mt. Paektu and their personalities as great persons.

Korean paintings "February holiday on the threshold of the country's liberation" and "To the homeland" deal with the immortal feats President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese heroine, performed by letting the bright star of Paektu shed its rays and enabling the Korean nation to be blessed with the illustrious leaders generation after generation.

Acryl paintings "The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il visiting the construction site of the Samjiyon Grand Monument", "O Korea, I will add glory to thee" and others successfully portray the peerless greatness of Kim Jong Il.

The visitors are deeply impressed to see an oil painting "The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il visiting workers of the Taean Heavy Machine Complex", a Korean painting "Praising it as spectacular landscape in the era of Songun" and other works dealing with his great leadership art characterized by his patriotic devotion.

An opening ceremony took place at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on Wednesday.

Present at the opening ceremony were Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kang Nung Su, minister of Culture, art creators and working people in the city.

Kim Ki Nam made an inaugural address.
