Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, on February 11 sent a congratulatory message to Moammer el Gaddafi, leader of the Revolution of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, on his election as chairperson of the AU at the 12th ordinary session of the assembly of heads of state and government of the African Union.
The DPRK government and people are convinced that this assembly marked an important occasion in further strengthening the AU, successively solving such regional issues as socio-economic development and disputes by the concerted efforts of the African countries and promoting the development of the infrastructure of the continent, Kim noted in the message, expressing the will to invariably boost the traditional friendly and cooperative relations with the AU and its member states.
The message hoped that the AU would register success in its efforts to achieve unity and cooperation among its member states and the integration, peace and prosperity of the continent in the future thanks to the active role of the chairperson.
