On display in the venue of the meeting were works of the three commanders of Mt. Paektu and photos showing their undying feats.

It was attended by officials of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the Voice of Russia and figures of different circles and other people.

Present there on invitation were officials of the DPRK embassy in Moscow.

Speeches were made there.

Vorontsov, first vice-chairman of the above-said Russian association, said that Kim Jong Il has fully demonstrated his extraordinary caliber as an outstanding thinker and theoretician and a leader of varied accomplishments, leading the Workers' Party of Korea and people for several decades.

He referred to the fact that under his wise leadership the Korean people have achieved great successes in their efforts to develop national economy and improve the standard of people's living and in the stand-off with the U.S. over the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.

Veredin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, noted that the greatest of the exploits performed by Kim Jong Il is that he developed the Songun idea in depth and trained the Korean People's Army as a powerful revolutionary vanguard unit.

Recalling that Kim Jong Il successfully accomplished the cause of perpetuating the memory of President Kim Il Sung and has confidently carried forward the ideas and theories expounded by the President, he wished the Korean people greater success in their efforts to build a great prosperous and powerful socialist nation.

Congratulatory messages to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meeting.
