Rodong Sinmun Friday observes in a signed commentary in this regard:

This is intolerable as it is a mockery and challenge to the Korean people, their hearts burning with bitter resentment at the group of traitors who turned their backs on the nation and a crafty artifice to play down the contents of the statement at any cost.

The CPRK's statement issued in view of the present inter-Korean relations and the prevailing grave situation represented an official stand of the DPRK government. The DPRK issued such statement with legal validity entirely because of the Lee group's vicious moves to escalate the confrontation with the DPRK.

It is the stark reality that all the agreements adopted between the north and the south in the past have been reduced to dead documents after they were proved to be defunct due to the moves of the group of traitors to totally negate the inter-Korean relations and bring them to collapse.

Had the group responded even a bit to the DPRK's sincere efforts to respect and implement the north-south agreements, the inter-Korean relations would neither have found themselves in the present worst crisis nor a hair-trigger situation would have prevailed on the Korean Peninsula.

The CPRK's statement is the DPRK's strong message and solemn declaration aimed at coping with the grave situation created by the Lee group. This, at the same time, reflected the aspiration and will of all the compatriots who love the country and the nation. The Lee group is stupid enough to play a poor trick for misrepresenting the statement of weighty importance and playing down its significance.

The CPRK's statement objectively reflected the deplorable reality created by the Lee group and served as the most proper remedy for putting it under control. No one can have a bargain on it as it is a declaration with legal validity issued by the prestigious organization of the DPRK. A document with legal validity can never be overturned once it is adopted.

The Lee group is working hard to play down the weight of the statement in a desperate effort to evade the responsibility for having pushed the inter-Korean relations to collapse. This is little short of adding to the crimes committed by it against reunification.
