Pyongyang, February 15 (KCNA) -- Some days ago, the commander of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces in south Korea blared that the south Korea-U.S. "combined air-force command" would be established and a new "operation plan" replacing "OPLAN 5027", a scenario for a nuclear war against the DPRK, be rounded off allegedly to take an "rapid counteraction" against it. He also blustered that the U.S. Eighth Army Command would be invariably stationed in south Korea even after the transfer of the "right to command wartime operation". Meanwhile, the U.S. and the south Korean puppet warmongers announced that they would apply the new "operation plan" to the Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military exercises to be scheduled in August. A spokesman for the Korean National Peace Committee in a statement on Feb. 15 termed their remarks an unpardonable declaration of confrontation and war outcries as they fully represented the scheme of the U.S. war hawks to stifle the DPRK militarily and permanently occupy south Korea. If the U.S. truly wants peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, it should discharge its duties as the signatory to the Korean Armistice Agreement and the very one responsible for the occurrence of the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula, the statement said, and went on: Owing to the reckless moves of the U.S. warmongers, the strained inter-Korean relations are getting worse and the outbreak of a nuclear war on the peninsula is a matter of time. Anyhow, the U.S. and the south Korean war hawks should be clearly mindful that they can not frighten the DPRK with any threat and provocation. The U.S. would be well advised to ponder over the catastrophic consequences to be entailed by its moves for confrontation and war with the DPRK, abandon its hostile policy toward the latter and withdraw its aggressor forces from south Korea without delay. |
