Speakers at the meeting noted that overseas compatriots should regard it as a keynote of the reunification movement to fully display patriotism even under difficult circumstances.

They stressed the need to steadily conduct the work to help compatriots from all walks of life participate in the struggle for implementing the June 15 joint declaration, foiling the confrontation policy desperately pursued by the south Korean authorities.

A resolution adopted at the meeting referred to the disclosure of the fact that the U.S. financially backed the ultra-right conservative forces of south Korea at a time when the inter-Korean relations have been driven to the worst phase due to the confrontation policy of the Lee Myung Bak group. This is touching off bitter indignation among Koreans, it said, and went on:

Compatriots in Europe desirous of peace and reunification of Korea strongly demand the Lee Myung Bak regime drop its policy opposed to the June 15 joint declaration and opt for national reconciliation and the independent reunification.

If the Lee Myung Bak regime continues recklessly pursuing confrontation with fellow countrymen, it will not escape judgment of history.
