A press release read out there recalled that the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the south Korean army on Feb. 11 at a "briefing on the U.S. transfer of the right to command wartime operations" said the south Korea-U.S. "annual security consultative council" and "military committee" would be kept as they are and the "headquarters for military cooperation" be newly created.

It denounced the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the south Korean army and the Command of the U.S. forces in south Korea for announcing that "a mechanism for cooperation in performing different functions" would be newly set up between them to permanently operate a "joint intelligence gathering center," etc.

All the facts prove that the U.S. forces will command all the combined operations even after the transfer of "the right to command wartime operations" to the south Korean army and, furthermore, it will result in letting the commander of the U.S. forces regain the key element of the "right to command peacetime operations," it deplored.

Bitterly denouncing such traitorous behavior of the military to increase south Korea's military dependence upon the U.S., the press release demanded the military authorities fully disclose the truth about the above-said dealing and stop such submission to the U.S.
