Senior CPC Official on Importance of Sino-DPRK Relations

Pyongyang, February 28 (KCNA) -- Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Jia Qinglin met the delegation of the Workers' Party of Korea led by Department Director of the Central Committee of the WPK Ri Kwang Ho at the Great Hall of the People on Feb. 25.

Jia Qinglin said that the China visit by the WPK delegation would brilliantly decorate the "year of Sino-DPRK friendship" and greatly contribute to the development of the relations between the two countries.

Noting that the Chinese party and government are attaching great importance to the development of the Sino-DPRK relations, he recalled that General-Secretary Hu Jintao stressed more than once that it is the unshakable strategic policy of the Chinese party and government to steadily develop the traditional Sino-DPRK relations of friendship.

Expressing his belief that the bilateral relations would grow stronger through the events of the "year of the Sino-DPRK friendship," he hoped that new areas would be explored and fresh modes be sought for the development of the bilateral relations and they would be enriched with new substance.

He proposed deepening the bilateral understanding through the frequent exchange of high-level visits and strengthening the cooperation in economy and trade, exchange in various fields including that between the parties, governments and armies and social organizations of the two countries, cooperation in fields including culture, art, science and technology and education and mutual cooperation in international issues.

Mutual visits by the leaders of the two countries are playing the most important role in the development of the bilateral ties which nothing can substitute, he said, adding that he warmly welcomes the China visit by General Secretary Kim Jong Il and senior officials of the party and government of the DPRK at a convenient time.

He expressed hope that the exchange between youth and children of the two countries, in particular, would be strengthened to develop the Sino-DPRK friendship generation after generation.

He hoped that both sides would make concerted efforts to inject youthful energy and vitality into the Sino-DPRK friendship, regarding this year, the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, as a fresh occasion and a new starting-point for boosting the Sino-DPRK relations.
