Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- Members of civic and public organizations and inhabitants in the Suwon area, Kyonggi Province, called a press conference outside the U.S. air force base in Suwon on Feb. 26 and denounced the U.S. forces' moves for arms buildup, according to CBS of south Korea.
Recalling that the U.S. forces unilaterally announced on Feb. 19 the plan to deploy one squadron of F-16s of the U.S. air force and at least 400 personnel of the U.S. forces to operate them in the said base, they condemned it as a criminal act of aggravating the tension on the Korean Peninsula.
They said that the residents in the area around the U.S. air force base are suffering a lot of troubles in their living due to the damage done by noise of airplanes and high-performance bombs and depleted uranium shells, etc. scattered here and there.
They strongly demanded the U.S. forces repeal the said plan at once.
