The uprising was the eruption of the pent-up resentment and grudge of the Korean nation who suffered bitter humiliation and mistreatment under the brutal "military rule" of the Japanese imperialists.

The participants in the uprising who fell down shedding blood called for national sovereignty. A grave obstacle, however, is now lying in the way of struggle for realizing it, the editorial notes, and goes on:

As the U.S. imperialists, who occupied south Korea in place of the Japanese imperialists, have pursued the strategy for dominating Korea, the reunification of the country has not yet been realized even in the 21st century and there persists tension on the Korean Peninsula.

Japan which brought immeasurable misfortune and disaster to the Korean people in the past is whetting sword for reinvasion while distorting its history of aggression and becoming undisguised in its wild ambition to grab Tok Islet, far from making an honest apology and reparation for its heinous crimes indelible down through generations.

The Lee Myung Bak group which grabbed power last year is getting frantic with the moves for the north-south confrontation, turning its back on the nation and totally negating the June 15 joint declaration, great programme for independent reunification, and the October 4 declaration.

The reality requires the Korean nation to stage a strenuous struggle against the moves for confrontation and war of the separatists at home and abroad.

It is necessary to raise higher the flame of struggle for independence against foreign forces.

The Korean nation should resolutely reject the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK, dynamically stage the nationwide struggle to drive out the U.S. aggressor forces from south Korea, check and frustrate the moves of the U.S., Japan and south Korea for organizing the "triangular military alliance" and the reckless racket of warmongers at home and abroad for a war of aggression against the north and turn out as one in the struggle for peace against war to defend peace on the Korean Peninsula.

It is also necessary to raise higher everywhere the Koreans live the flame of anti-Japanese struggle for disclosing and condemning the Japanese reactionaries' criminal attempt to distort the history of aggression and grab Tok Islet and foiling their hostile moves towards the DPRK.

All the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad should never pardon the Lee Myung Bak regime bringing misfortune and disaster to the nation while going against the trend of the times in collusion with foreign forces and wage more unflinching struggle to eliminate the group of traitors.

There are grave manifold difficulties and trials in the way of the Koreans struggling for the national sovereignty but nothing can block the advance of the times.
