February Holiday Observed at DPRK Diplomatic Missions Abroad

Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- Receptions, photo exhibitions, film shows and friendly meetings were held at the DPRK missions in Cuba, Laos, Iran, Syria, Pakistan, Mongolia, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Egypt, Uganda, Democratic Congo, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Romania, France, Switzerland, Austria and Mexico and the DPRK permanent mission at the Secretariat of the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva in the period from Feb. 10 to 16 on the occasion of the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Seen on the front walls of the venues of the functions were portraits of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and placed before portraits were floral baskets sent by political parties, governments, ministries, organizations and institutions and figures from various circles of those countries.

Displayed there were works of the President and Kim Jong Il and photos showing their immortal Songun leadership exploits and pictures introducing the struggle of the army and people of the DPRK to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation.

Speeches were made there.

The Mongolian minister of Foreign Relations hoped that the Korean people would register bigger successes in the efforts to build a great prosperous powerful nation under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il. The chairman of the Thailand-DPRK friendly parliamentary group noted that the Korean people are firmly united around Kim Jong Il as he has pursued a policy for the people.

An Iranian vice-minister of Foreign Affairs said that he would exert all his efforts for the development of the cooperative relations with the DPRK which stands together with his country on the common front of the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. struggle.

The general secretary of the Movement for Peace and Socialism of Italy held that socialism in the DPRK is sure to triumph thanks to the leadership of Kim Jong Il, saying that he has led the struggle of the Korean people for building a great prosperous powerful nation to victory.

The chairman of the Supreme Council of the Socialist Party of Romania said that the Juche idea and the Songun politics are the life and soul of Korean style socialism, adding that his party would positively support the just cause of the Korean people.

The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Socialist Popular Party of Mexico expressed the belief that the Workers' Party of Korea and the Korean people would fling open the gate to a great prosperous powerful nation in 2012, the centenary of birth of the President under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
