To live and develop in an independent way is the aspiration and desire of all countries and nations, the article said, and went on:

The imperialists are putting political, military and economic pressure upon those countries aspiring after independence.

Under this situation, it is necessary to further increase the self-reliant defence capability in order to protect the sovereignty of each country from the imperialists' interference and encroachment.

The Songun politics gives prefect answer to such demand.

The vitality of this politics has been clearly evidenced in the experience of the DPRK which foiled the offensive of the imperialist allied forces and reliably defended its system in the grim trials unprecedented in history towards the close of the last century.
