The Korean nation made various kinds of high-efficient weapons and equipment to suit the constitutional character of the Koreans and the natural and geographical conditions of the country for the purpose of strengthening the national defence power and displayed their might to the full in battles against invaders from olden times.

On display there are more than 50 pieces of relics of weapons and equipment used by the nation from the primitive times to the period of Ri Dynasty (1392-1910).

Among them are a Pipha-shaped dagger and a narrow brass dagger, peculiar to Korea in remote ages, Soenoe (a mechanical archery with shooting device) which was made in the period of Ancient Korea and used even in the days of Ri Dynasty as well as in the periods of three Kingdoms and Koryo, Kaema (an armor-clad horse) belonging to Koguryo which played a role of shock force breaking through the enemy line in the van of the combat formation.

Attracting the attention of the visitors are weapons and equipment which made a great contribution to the development of the world military science and technology.

Stirrups were invented by the Koguryo people for the first time in the world and widely disseminated to the neighboring areas and countries.

Among the exhibits are the iron-clad warship "turtle ship", the first of its kind in the world, which greatly contributed to repulsing Japanese invaders in the Sachon, Hansan and other naval battles during the Imjin Patriotic War (1592), Pigyokjinchonroe (a kind of gun), which was recorded in the world artillery history and Singijongihwacha, which is the origin of multiple-stage rocket launcher. All of them are the proud military heritage of the Korean nation.

The exhibits clearly show the patriotism of the nation who made efforts to strengthen the national defence capabilities.
