Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- Civic and public organizations of south Korea, including the Solidarity for Progress, the Confederation of Trade Unions and the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, called a press conference in Seoul on Thursday, demanding an immediate halt to the projected anti-DPRK war exercises of the U.S. imperialists and the puppet war maniacs.
A press release, read out at the conference, stressed that Key Resolve and Foal Eagle, large-scale joint military exercises to be staged by the U.S. and the south Korean military war hawks across south Korea from March 9, are evidently war exercises against the DPRK.
It said: The U.S. is now forward-deploying Stealth fighter bombers and other offensive weapons in the Asia-Pacific region while moving its armed forces. And the Lee Myung Bak "government" is driving the situation of the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war, calling for "preemptive attack" and claiming that they would "not rule out a war." If the said large-scale joint military exercises are launched under such situation, they would entail serious consequences.
The release held that the DPRK-targeted war exercises should be cancelled at once as they will wreck peace and escalate the military tension in the Korean Peninsula.
