Present there were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, leading officials of working people's organizations, women officials and labor innovators, women in the city and overseas Korean women.

Present there on invitation were women of foreign embassies and missions of international organizations here and foreign guests.

Ro Song Sil, chairperson of the Central Committee of the Democratic Women's Union of Korea, in her report said that international unity and solidarity among the progressive women the world over have grown stronger in the struggle to achieve national independence and sovereignty against domination and subjugation and great progress has been made in the development of the world women's movement for nearly a century since the International Women's Day was instituted.

She noted that the Korean women's movement has covered the road of victory and glory in the crucible of the Korean revolution recorded with heroic events and epoch-making changes under the wise guidance of the peerlessly great persons.

Recalling that President Kim Il Sung put forward the women as the powerful force pushing one of the two wheels of the revolutionary chariot and heroines of the times and adorned the history of profound trust and love, providing them with everything he could, the reporter stressed that his undying feats would shine forever.

The Korean women's movement greeted a new historic era of its development under the leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il, she said, and went on:

The Korean women are creditably discharging their mission and duty in the struggle to defend socialism and achieve the prosperity of the country, sharing the destiny with the headquarters of the revolution, thanks to Kim Jong Il's deep trust and loving care.

She called upon all the women to give fullest play to the inexhaustible mental power and all potentials and thus fully demonstrate the stamina of the women of Songun Korea in the on-going drive to bring about a great revolutionary surge for opening the gate to the great prosperous and powerful nation.
