He first went round the Pulgunbyol Theatre, a building which has been constructed by rebuilding an annex to the Ponghwa Art Theatre.

He expressed great satisfaction over the construction of another splendid modern theatre having all facilities.

Then he enjoyed an art performance given by the State Merited Chorus in connection with the opening of the Pulgunbyol Theatre.

The repertoire of the performers included male choruses "Please Receive Our Salute", "Forest Is Swaying" and "Wind Howls from Mt. Paektu " and male solos and male choruses "My Home Village" and "The 2,000-ri Amnok River".

Through the performance the artistes sang high praises of the proud course of the Songun revolution shining with victory and glory and truthfully represented the unshakable faith and will of the army and people of the DPRK to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche and the cause of building a great prosperous and powerful nation without fail under the uplifted banner of the great Songun.

The revolutionary and militant performance deeply impressed the audience as it powerfully demonstrated the great vitality of the WPK's policy on Songun music.

Kim Jong Il expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the artistes of the State Merited Chorus gave a splendid performance fully reflecting the faith and will of the DPRK and the revolutionary soldier spirit.

He expressed great expectation and conviction that all the artistes of the chorus would conduct dynamic revolutionary performing activities in the future, too, and thus greatly encourage the army and people to wage fresh struggles and perform feats and give full play to the might of the buglers for the Songun revolution and a militant art unit.

Among the audience were KPA Vice Marshal Kim Yong Chun, minister of the People's Armed Forces of the NDC of the DPRK, KPA General Kim Jong Gak, first vice-director of the KPA General Political Department, KPA Generals Kim Myong Guk and Hyon Chol Hae and other commanding officers of the army, Pak Myong Chol, councilor of the NDC of the DPRK, Ri Je Gang and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the C.C., WPK, and other senior cadres.
