Upon receipt of the news about the elections, the whole Party, the entire army and all the people have been striving to effect a giant leap forward on all fronts for building a great, prosperous and powerful nation, under the uplifted torch of a new great revolutionary upsurge.

Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il was nominated as a candidate for deputy to the 12th Supreme People's Assembly at the voters' meeting of Constituency No. 333 on February 1 in reflection of the unanimous desire of the officers and men of the KPA.

It was followed by similar meetings of all the constituencies throughout the country.

This was a vivid expression of the invariable faith and revolutionary will of the Korean army and people to have Kim Jong Il at the highest post of the Korean revolution and glorify the country.

In his open letter sent to all voters throughout the country on February 17, General Secretary
Kim Jong Il extended his heartfelt thanks to the entire electorate of the country for their deep trust in him and manifested his strong will to be always among the servicepersons and people and devote his all to the prosperity of the country and happiness of the people, true to President Kim Il Sung's noble intention.

In response to the open letter, all the voters held rallies and made their minds to repay his deep trust in them.

They participated in the elections of deputies to the SPA as one on March 8 and thus consolidated the people's power as firm as rock and demonstrated the durability of the single-minded unity rallied close around the leader with one mind and one will and the invincibility of the Korean-style socialist system.
