The South Kyongsang Provincial Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration and the Preparatory Committee for the South Kyongsang Provincial Solidarity for Progress held a news conference outside the Provincial Office.

Speakers at the conference denounced the U.S. and the south Korean authorities' joint military exercises as a saber rattling for preemptive attack designed to topple the north.

They said that the exercises are utterly contrary to the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration which called for dialogue and cooperation and normalization of relations and the agreement of the six-party talks.

They urged the U.S. and the south Korean authorities to immediately stop the war maneuvers escalating the tension on the Korean Peninsula.

The Ulsan Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration and the Preparatory Committee for the Ulsan Solidarity for Progress, too, called a press conference at which they charged that the large-scale joint military exercises are as good as an act of pouring oil in the fire as they were launched at a time when the inter-Korean relations have been put on the worst crisis, even bringing about the danger of military clashes.

A spokesman for the Democratic Labor Party said at the "National Assembly": The U.S. and the Lee Myung Bak "government" are talking about "dialogue" with the DPRK while staging the DPRK-targeted war exercises in violation of the UN Charter and the Armistice Agreement. This is no more than hypocrisy of a wolf in sheep's skin.
