Noting that south Korea is at the critical crossroad of war and peace due to the frantic Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises being staged by the U.S. imperialists and the Lee Myung Bak group, the appeal said:

It is the south Korean people who are responsible for preventing the disaster of a nuclear war being sought by outside forces and their stooges and who have power to check the war and defend peace. The people from all walks of life should turn out in the nationwide resistance to baffle the dangerous war exercises of the U.S. imperialists and the Lee Myung Bak bellicose forces for invasion of the DPRK.

The U.S. imperialist aggressor troops are the root cause of all misfortunes and sufferings of the south Korean people and a hotbed of the war against the DPRK. Therefore, all the people should dynamically wage the struggle to put an end to the U.S. military occupation and domination over south Korea under the banner of independence against the U.S.

The appeal described the report of the Supreme Command of the Korean People's Army and the statement of a spokesman for the KPA General Staff as the most just self-defensive measure reflecting the aspiration and will of all the Koreans to defend the dignity and interests of the nation.

Over the past years every scheme of the warlike forces to ignite a war against the DPRK has been frustrated by its tremendous war deterrent, it noted, calling upon all the south Korean people to fully support and defend the DPRK's Songun politics, pride of the nation and treasured sword for peace.

It called for vigorously waging the struggle for peace against war, full of confidence in sure victory, while regarding the strong war deterrent of the DPRK as the great wealth of the Korean nation.
