The statement charged that the U.S. and the south Korean puppet authorities waged the Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises for aggression in spite of the DPRK's repeated warnings and the world progressive people's protest.

It branded the exercises of the U.S. and the south Korean bellicose forces as an undisguised military threat to the independent DPRK and a criminal act detrimental to the Korean people's desire for peace and reunification.

The facts go to prove again that the new U.S. administration's promise to find a negotiated solution to the issue of the Korean Peninsula is no more than rhetoric and the U.S. remains unchanged in its ambition for aggression on the DPRK, it said.

The said exercises, the statement said, are also an attempt to unleash a new war on the peninsula and lay obstacles in the way of the Korean nation's unity.

It strongly demanded that the U.S. and the south Korean authorities renounce the adventurous and aggressive joint military exercises they are frequently waging against the DPRK on the Korean Peninsula and the U.S. withdraw all its aggression armed forces from south Korea.
