The June 15 era of reunification turned the north-south relations characterized by mistrust and confrontation that lasted for more than half a century into those of reconciliation and unity. It goes to prove that "By our nation itself" is noble patriotic spirit as it helps bring earlier independent reunification, peace and prosperity.

National reunification should be achieved independently by the concerted efforts of the Koreans in the north and the south free from foreign interference. This is the core of the spirit of "By our nation itself" clarified in the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.

All Koreans should have transparent awareness of national independence that they should independently solve the issue of national reunification related to the destiny of the nation by their concerted efforts. This is the key to rejecting foreign aggression and interference and flunkeyism and dependence on foreign forces and reenergizing the movement for national reunification. Despite the vicious obstructions of the U.S. and the Lee Myung Bak group the driving force for national reunification has grown strong, the movement for national reunification dynamic and national reconciliation and unity and independent reunification have become an irresistible trend of the times. This is ascribable to the spirit of "By our nation itself" firmly enshrined in the minds of the fellow countrymen.

The above-said spirit represents the will and faith of all Koreans to make everything meet the interests of the nation, loving and valuing it more than anything else, and wage the movement for national reunification by the concerted efforts of the Koreans. Giving full play to the spirit of "By our nation itself" alone guarantees the dignity and honor of the nation, national pride and self-esteem and the indomitable will and stamina of the Koreans.

Only when all Koreans in the north and the south and abroad turn out in the movement for national independence and reunification as one, is it possible to throw overboard the anti-reunification elements and traitors in south Korea, definitely turn the north-south relations into the ties between compatriots and open a new history of peace and prosperity.
