These words of Kim Hyong Jik, an indomitable revolutionary fighter, on the historic day 92 years ago epitomize the noble idea of the Korean National Association (KNA) on independence against imperialism and national unity.

At that time, the Japanese imperialists resorted to brutal political suppression by a medieval military rule and robbed Korea of her resources at random by cooking up all kinds of evil laws such as the "Land Survey Act".

The Korean people waged an anti-Japanese struggle of diverse forms against their harsh repression and gangster-like plunder, but their struggle ended in failure, torn asunder because of unsteady way of fight, dispersed and spontaneous nature and maneuvers of the worshippers of big powers and national reformists.

Seeing through this situation, Kim Hyong Jik energetically pushed ahead with the formation of a new revolutionary organization for uniting the Korean nation, prompted by the idea of anti-imperialism and independence, the idea that the struggle for the independence of the country and the liberation of the nation could be won only by the efforts of the Korean people themselves, not in reliance upon foreign forces.

He formed the KNA at Haktanggol, Pyongyang, on March 23, Juche 6 (1917) after thoroughgoing preparations.

With the formation of the KNA, the Korean people came into possession of a powerful guiding revolutionary organization to give unified leadership to the national liberation movement on a nationwide scale by uniting all the anti-Japanese forces into one and the anti-Japanese national liberation movement embarked upon a new road to be advanced confidently by the organized strength of the Korean nation itself.

The noble idea of the KNA was steadily carried forward by President Kim Il Sung and is being brought to a brilliant reality by General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

The President, true to the high aim of Kim Hyong Jik, founded the immortal great Juche idea and opened up a road of independent development before the Korean revolution. And he accomplished the historic cause of the country's liberation by leading the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and built the most superior socialist country centered on the popular masses in this land by leading the building of a new society to victory over a period of half a century.

Regarding it his life-long mission to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered by the President, Kim Jong Il has lifted the position of the DPRK to the highest plane with invincible Songun politics and brought the dawn of a great, prosperous and powerful socialist nation, thus demonstrating the dignity and grand sight of Kim Il Sung's Korea to the whole world.

The DPRK will make a long drive through centuries and only victory and glory are in store for the Korean people, as the great idea and cause of the peerlessly great men are carried forward successfully through generations and Kim Jong Il leads the Korean revolution at its head.
