Kim Jong Il Provides Field Guidance to Jaeryong Mine
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Jaeryong Mine.

After being briefed on the mine in front of the map showing a panoramic view of the Sungri Mining District and going round stopes, he acquainted himself in detail with the progress made in the preparations for reenergizing the production there and the mineral output.

Watching the miners engaged in the drive for increasing the production at stopes, he encouraged them who are bringing about miracles and innovations through the great endeavors to effect a new great revolutionary surge.

The workers of the mine have sent quality iron ore to iron works in time with ardent patriotism for a long period up to this date since the days of building a new country after the liberation, thus greatly contributing to the nation's economic development, he said, calling upon them to give fuller play to the heroic stamina of the Korean working class in the final charge to open the gate to a great prosperous and powerful nation by displaying the same spirit and stamina as they did in the past.

He noted that the Jaeryong Mine is an important mine directly linked with the iron production at the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex and other various iron works and advanced highly important tasks which would serve as guidelines for developing the mine under a long-term plan.

He said that it is a vast and difficult task to wind up the preparations for bringing about a leap forward in the iron ore production in a short span of time but the miners are sure to carry it out ahead of schedule in view of their exceptionally great enthusiasm as they are dashing like the wind, racing against time in response to the Party's call.

In order to keep the iron ore production going at a high rate it is necessary to thoroughly implement the Party's policy on massive ore cutting and massive ore transport, he noted, adding that to this end it is imperative to give priority to the earth removal, make all mining, carriage and screening equipment large-sized and, at the same time, carry out successful maintenance and overhaul of them to boost their operation rate.

Underlining the need to make a good use of all iron ores without any waste as they are precious natural resources badly needed for the prosperity of the country, he said that to this end it is necessary to give priority to prospecting to fully secure reserve mining lots and, at the same time, take thoroughgoing measures for deep mining based on the latest science and technology.

Looking round the area of the mine, he stressed the need to level the area well, taking into consideration the peculiarity of the open mine and keep the compound and village of the mine cleaner hygienically and culturally and thus bring the advanced culture of the working class into full bloom.

He underscored the need to pay special attention to the work and life of the miners there as they work outside in all seasons despite rain or snow.

It is just three months since the torch of a new great revolutionary surge was kindled in Kangson but unprecedented great leap forward and innovations have been reported from all fronts including the metal industry and the machine industry and as a result the potential of the Juche-based industry of the DPRK has remarkably grown stronger as the days go by, he said, noting that this astonishing miracle confidently augurs the victory of a great prosperous and powerful nation.

Recalling that the whole country is seething like lava of an active volcano thanks to the dynamic drive of the people in the DPRK to open the gate to a great prosperous and powerful nation by the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung, he stressed that this stirring era in which great epoch-making changes are about to take place requires all the party members and other working people who are soldiers and disciples of the President to devote themselves to the prosperity of the motherland.

He expressed great expectation and conviction that the miners of the Jaeryong Mine would creditably fulfill their honorable mission and duty as vanguard and pioneers in the socialist economic construction and thus demonstrate the heroic spirit and invincible mettle in the building of a thriving nation.

He was accompanied by Kim Rak Hui, chief secretary of the South Hwanghae Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Pak Nam Gi and Jang Song Thaek, department directors of the C.C., the WPK.
