Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- The U.S. recently decided to transfer some of its Marines based in Okinawa to Guam. It was prompted by the intention to boost the capability to cope with the contingency in the region including the Korean Peninsula and Taiwan Strait and use Guam as a base to contain its strategic rivals and potential enemies in the Western Pacific. Minju Joson Tuesday observes this in a signed commentary. It continues: In case that the relocation of the U.S. forces is completed in the Asia-Pacific region, the U.S. will acquire military capability to militarily contain China and Russia and rapidly react to the "contingency" on the Korean Peninsula and the Taiwan Strait. This indicates that the U.S. is keen to hold military supremacy in the Asia-Pacific region in a desperate bid to bind big powers and military giants in the region hand and foot and realize its wild ambition for world domination come what may. Now that the U.S. is seeking military supremacy in the region, the countries concerned are unlikely to remain a passive onlooker to the development. Accordingly, this will lead to the escalation of the military confrontation and contradictions among the big powers in the region and adversely affect the peace and stability and the developments in the region. The reality goes to prove that the U.S. is the arch criminal wrecking the peace and stability in the world. The U.S. strategy for relocating its forces in the region is directly affecting the peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula. The grave military tension escalated by the U.S. on the peninsula compels the DPRK to bolster its war deterrent. The DPRK will increase its capability for self-defence in every way in order to defend the sovereignty and dignity of the country and its right to existence. |
