Kim Jong Il Provides Field Guidance to Anju Area Coal Mining Complex
Pyongyang, March 27 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Anju Area Coal Mining Complex.

He first looked round the monument to the field guidance given by President Kim Il Sung and the Revolutionary Museum.

The complex has turned into a large-scale coal producer under the wise guidance of the President and his meticulous care, he said, adding that the immortal revolutionary exploits of the President will shine long with the coalfield.

After being briefed on the complex in front of a map showing a panoramic view of the development of the coal mines, he went round various places of the complex including the cutting face of the Hwaphung Coal Mine to learn in detail about the preparations for reenergizing the production, the long-term plan for the development of the complex and the coal production there.

Noting that the complex has a very important duty and role to perform as it plays a big role in building a great prosperous and powerful nation, he advanced important tasks which would serve as guidelines for developing the coal mines under a long-term plan.

The immediate task facing the complex is to complete the preparations for sharply increasing the coal production in a short span of time, he said.

In order to reenergize the coal production and steadily boost the production capacity it is necessary to conduct a vast work including the work to keep cutting faces in good order, he said, indicating the orientation and ways to do so.

Noting that whether to satisfactorily meet the ever-growing need for coal or not largely depends on the complex, he set forth the tasks to be fulfilled by the complex to this end.

He stressed that what is most important for sharply increasing the coal production is to put the modernization and scientification of the coal mines on to a high level.

In order to successfully wind up the vast technological updating of the complex in a brief span of time it is imperative to boost the state support to it, he said, stressing the need for the ministries and national institutions including the Cabinet to energetically push forward the work at the coal mines and help them.

If the complex is to boost the production of quality coal it is necessary for it to push ahead with the modernization of the cutting faces and, at the same time, intensify the scientific researches into this domain, he said.

He expressed expectation and conviction that the colliers of Anju would dash like the wind in the van of the drive for bringing about a new great revolutionary surge, keeping pace with the steel producers of Kangson, and thus exalt their honor of being builders of a great prosperous and powerful nation and perform exploits in the drive.

He was accompanied by Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Pak Nam Gi and Jang Song Thaek, department directors of the C.C., the WPK.
