Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- Seventy-two years have elapsed since President Kim Il Sung put forth the policy of advancing into the homeland with large forces at the Xigang meeting in the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle. Entering 1937, the Japanese imperialists stepped up the fascist repression and plunder of the Korean people as never before, clamoring loudly about "oneness of Japan and Korea" and "the Japanese and the Koreans are of the same ancestry" and resorted to vicious moves to hold in check the advance of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) into the homeland. The President, with a scientific penetration into the prevailing situation, convened a meeting of military and political cadres of the KPRA in Xigang, Fusong County on March 29, Juche 26 (1937), at which he delivered the historic speech "Let Us Inspire the People with Hopes of National Liberation by Advancing with Large Forces into the Homeland." The advance of KPRA large units into the homeland was of great significance in making the people turn out vigorously in the sacred war to liberate the country, full of joy and confidence in victory that they had the revolutionary army to defeat the Japanese imperialists and win the independence of Korea. This was the strategic intention of the President consistent with the operation to advance into the homeland. In the speech he indicated the direction of each unit's activities for the advance. He ordered the main unit to march into the Hyesan district across the Amnok River, a strongpoint of frontier guards of the Japanese imperialists, a unit to skirt round Mt. Paektu and advance into the northern border area along the Tuman River via Antu and Helong and a unit to advance into the Linjiang and Changbai areas along the Amnok River. He stressed that the immediate task for the successful advance into the homeland was to prepare the members of the KPRA politically and ideologically and, at the same time, make full combat preparations. The policy served as an important guideline for successful advance into the homeland and was of weighty significance in expanding the anti-Japanese armed struggle deep into the homeland. The main unit led by the President advanced into the homeland and waged the Pochonbo battle, dealing a telling political and military blow to the Japanese imperialist aggressors. The battle implanted in the minds of the Korean people the confidence in the national liberation and the faith in the victory and forcefully aroused them to the anti-Japanese warfare. |
