Speakers at the rally deplored that it is a long time since a tragedy took place in Ryongsan but the main culprits of the murder have not yet been punished.

They declared that they would expand their movement to probe the truth about the murder and mete out a stern judgment to the main culprits at the public court.

An appeal read out there said the people would unite as one and launch widespread actions to hold in check the authorities' moves for "re-development", which might spark off the second and third Ryongsan tragedies and punish the arrogant "government" and the ruling party.

In another development, the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the "National Government Employees' Union" and youth and children's organizations separately staged actions in Seoul that day in protest against the authorities' misrule.
