The branch academy founded by President Kim Il Sung has established Juche in scientific researches in the past to create the vinalon industry based on the local raw materials and technology and successfully solve the scientific and technological problems arising in the development of the chemical industry, with the result that it has made a contribution to the development of the light industry and agriculture.

It has invented and introduced a method of restoring the slogans written on trees during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and preserving them forever so as to convey the undying revolutionary exploits performed by the three commanders of Mt. Paektu to the coming generations, which is a great success made by the branch academy.

In particular, it has developed a technique for making new goods from the intermediate product of vinalon and registered various research achievements since the visit of General Secretary Kim Jong Il to the branch academy in March, Juche 88 (1999). Its successes are greatly conducive to the strengthening of the Juche character of the chemical industry.

On the other hand, the scientists and technicians there have solved satisfactorily the urgent scientific and technological problems arising in the building of a great, prosperous and powerful socialist nation through brisk activities of the "February 17 Shock Brigade of Scientists and Technicians".

They are now engaged in researches into putting the production of the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, February 8 Vinalon Complex and other industrial establishments in various sectors of the national economy on a normal track.
