Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- The Action Headquarters of the 17th-term south Korean Federation of University Students Councils made public a statement on March 30 denouncing the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors for kicking up a reckless "human rights" racket against the DPRK. The statement accused the Lee group of again co-sponsoring "a resolution on the human rights issue" in the DPRK at the UN. Recalling that Lee has stepped up his policy of confrontation with fellow countrymen over "the nuclear issue and human rights issue in the north" ever since the outset of his office, the statement stressed that this has brought the inter-Korean relations to a stalemate and rendered the situation on the Korean Peninsula so tense that a war may break out at any moment. The above-said racket kicked up by the group against this backdrop is a provocation to the north and an act of driving the present inter-Korean relations to an uncontrollable catastrophe, the statement charged. The organization in a statement on April 1 accused the "Ministry of Unification" of taking an action to disallow the visit to the DPRK by representatives of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration to attend the meeting of the co-chairmen of the All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration. The statement held that the above-said action taken by the authorities under the pretext of "security," etc. was prompted by their intention to bar the organization incurring their displeasure from visiting the north, an undisguised suppression of the progressive forces and the reunification movement. The recent action taken by the present "government" to put a brake on the work of the south side committee which groups political parties and organizations of broad strata of people in south Korea patently proves that it has no will to improve the inter-Korean relations, it noted, adding: The Lee "government" had better step down for its responsibility for having deteriorated the south-north relations. |
