Present there were officials of the Ministry of Public Health, working people's organizations, ministries, national institutions and media, public health workers in Pyongyang and members of the missions of international organizations including the WHO here.

It was addressed by Ri Pong Hun, vice-minister of Public Health, and Sarveshwar Puri, representative of the WHO.

They said that the "Health facilities in emergencies", the theme of World Health Day this year, call on the health institutions and workers to take practical actions in case of emergency.

Satisfactory and effective services of the health facilities when urgent medical help is required are of weighty importance in rescuing residents' lives, they added.

They expressed expectation that the events held on the above-said day would be helpful to the activities of the WHO and the international community.

Then its participants watched a video "Health Facilities in Emergencies."

There was a lecture on the subject "Disasters and first-aid treatment" at the event.
