Its successful satellite launch proves that its science and technology have reached a high level as they have made an unprecedented leap forward thanks to the Songun politics, the statement said, and continued:

We regard such leaping advance made by the DPRK in the development of science and technology as another great success achieved by it in its work for opening the gate to a great prosperous and powerful nation in 2012.

The statement expressed indignation at some countries describing the satellite of the DPRK for peaceful purposes as a military object and calling on the UN Security Council to tighten "sanctions" against it, urging the Ukrainian government and all progressive forces to support the DPRK's sovereign right to the space development for peaceful purposes.

The Finland-Korea Society in a statement issued on the same day asserted that the DPRK has a legitimate right to use space for peaceful purposes like other countries in the world as it is an independent and sovereign state, warmly supporting and hailing its recent satellite launch.
