Born into a poor worker family in Chongwon County, North Chungchong Province on April 10, Juche 18 (1929), he was subject to all sorts of maltreatment and humiliation. After the liberation of the country he ardently longed for the society for the people in the northern half of Korea with ardent reverence for President Kim Il Sung.

During the Fatherland Liberation War fought against the U.S. imperialist aggressors he bravely fought as a member of the volunteers' corps. After the war he devoted himself to socialist construction as an economic official. He worked hard for national reunification. He remained true to the faith and the sense of obligation as a revolutionary soldier though he was put to all sorts of cruel torture for 33 years behind bars since he was arrested by the enemy. He has fully enjoyed a worthwhile life since he came into the care of the socialist homeland.
