Displayed in the venue of the festival are more than 20,000 potted Kimilsungias brought into bloom with sincerity by units of the Korean People's Army, ministries and national institutions, working people's organizations, scientific, educational, public health and media organs and enterprises, servicepersons, working people, school youth and children, Koreans overseas, diplomatic missions of different countries and missions of international organizations here, foreign friendly and public organizations, enterprises and figures and Chinese residents in the DPRK.

Present there were Choe Thae Bok , Yang Hyong Sop and others, officials of ministries, national institutions and working people's organizations and working people, overseas compatriots' delegations, including the delegation of Koreans in Japan, and overseas compatriots, and the director of the Dewi Sukarno Office in Japan and the chairman of the American Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Association who are honorary chairpersons of the Society for Supporting the Propagation of Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia, delegations of the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia greenhouses in Dandong and Hunchun of China and delegations and members of associations for supporting the propagation of the immortal flowers across the region of China.

Present there on invitation were the Indonesian government cultural delegation and the Indonesian ambassador to the DPRK and his embassy officials.

Kim Pyong Hun, chairman of the General Federation of the Unions of Art and Literature of Korea, said in his opening address that the festival is more meaningfully decorating the April holiday as it is taking place amid the immense excitement and joy at having General Secretary Kim Jong Il at the top post of the DPRK in the wake of the successful launch of the satellite Kwangmyongsong-2.

Noting that the DPRK has demonstrated to the world its dignity and might by winning victories and exalting its honor as it holds President Kim Il Sung in high esteem, he stressed that the Korean people became a proud people who were the first in the world to have Kimilsungia, an immortal flower going by the august name of the peerlessly great man, as the treasure of the country and the pride of the nation.

The festival will prove to be a flower festival expressing evermore ardent longing for Kim Il Sung, a great man, he noted.

Wardiyatmo, general secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Indonesia who is heading the Indonesian government cultural delegation, made a congratulatory speech at the ceremony.

The participants looked round the venue of the festival with deep emotion.
