Pyongyang, April 14 (KCNA) -- The Arab Solidarity Committee to Support the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and the South Korean People's Struggle released a statement on March 31 on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission.
The statement said that Kim Jong Il's election as NDC chairman of the DPRK was an epochal event of weighty significance in consolidating socialist Korea and giving fuller play to the Juche character of the Korean nation.
This event made it impossible for the imperialist allied forces and the south Korean reactionaries to daringly attack the DPRK, and it helped the DPRK display its might as a powerful socialist state which manufactures even satellites, it noted.
It stressed that the signal changes taking place in the DPRK are attributable to the energetic Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il who is always arousing the people to a fresh great revolutionary surge.
The committee calls upon the progressive organizations of the world to actively defend the DPRK and support Kim Jong Il's Songun politics intended to foil the imperialists' scheme for domination over the world, the statement said.
