The bank of the river and the roads facing the Tower of the Juche Idea were crowded with hundreds of thousands of citizens from all walks of life who gathered to watch the fireworks.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il took the tribune of honor.

He warmly acknowledged the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd and sincerely congratulated them on the Day of the Sun, the greatest national holiday.

The tribune of honor was also taken by senior party, army and state officials Kim Yong Nam, Kim Yong Il, Kim Yong Chun, Jon Pyong Ho, Choe Thae Bok, Ri Yong Mu, O Kuk Ryol, Ri Yong Ho, Kim Jong Gak, Kim Il Chol, Yang Hyong Sop and Kim Ki Nam.

Watching the fireworks were officials of party, armed forces and power organs, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons, officials of scientific, educational, cultural and art, public health and media organs, persons of merit, the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front, overseas compatriots' delegations and overseas compatriots.

Present there on invitation were foreign guests, diplomatic envoys of different countries and representatives of international organizations here.

Amid the solemn playing of songs "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and "Long Live Generalissimo Kim Il Sung" fireworks were displayed in the sky to brightly illuminate the torch atop the Tower of the Juche Idea.

Then followed the display of multi-color confetti-like fireworks working wonders and presenting spectacular scenery in the nocturnal sky with exciting sound.

Fireworks displayed in succession presenting the most fascinating and beautiful scenery in the nocturnal sky seemed to be the Korean people's expression of their profound reverence for Kim Il Sung, the peerless legendary hero and eternal sun of the nation.

The sky over the city was reminiscent of a huge garden with flowers of all species in full bloom as it was more gorgeously decorated with fireworks of various shapes and colors with the passage of time.

The evening of fireworks mesmerized the spectators as it instilled conviction of sure victory and optimism into the servicepersons and people and promised a rosy future of the Korean revolution.

As the evening was over, the crowd broke into rousing cheers of "hurrah!" and loud voices extending the best wishes to leader Kim Jong Il, turning the capital city in the evening into a sea of loyalists.

Kim Jong Il warmly waved back to the enthusiastically cheering crowd.

The evening of fireworks strikingly demonstrated the firm faith and will of the army and the people of the DPRK to hold the President in high esteem as the sun of the nation forever and eternally glorify his immortal revolutionary exploits and successfully accomplish the cause of building a thriving nation and the revolutionary cause of Juche under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
