A special meeting of the provincial government was held on April 7 to decide on the conferment of the honorary citizenship upon Kim Jong Il.

A decision on awarding honorary citizenship to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.

It said that Cotopaxi Province has the pleasure to award its honorary citizenship to Kim Jong Il, successor to President Kim Il Sung's cause of Juche and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, on the occasion of the Day of the Sun, the most significant and historic day of the Korean people.

The decision was conveyed to the head of the DPRK group for assistance in Koryo medicine active in Ecuador.
