Siham Ahmad Mugahed, chairman of the Egypt-Korea Friendship Association, in a statement on April 10 said that Kim Il Sung's life was a life of the distinguished thinker and theoretician who founded the guiding idea in the era of independence and clearly indicated the path ahead of the Korean people and progressive humankind, the extraordinary strategist who defeated two imperialisms in one generation and ushered in a new upswing in the anti-imperialist struggle and the great statesman who built the DPRK where the centuries-old backwardness and poverty once prevailed into a socialist power, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence.

The idea, cause and personality of the President are being successfully carried forward by General Secretary Kim Jong Il, he said, adding that the history of the President is shedding ever brighter rays as the eternal treasure of socialist Korea and the human cause of independence.

Saber Ballul, department chief of the Political Faculty of the University of Damascus, in a statement on April 7 said that the birth of the President provided the Korean nation with a ray of hope and the world people struggling against subjugation and submission with a beacon.

The statement recalled that the President founded the great Juche idea, the Songun idea which guides the world people to defend the sovereignty of their countries and the dignity of their nations.
