Present there were senior party, army and state officials, chairpersons of friendly parties and officials of Party, armed forces and power organs, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the KPA, officials of scientific, educational, cultural and arts, public health and media organs, families of KPA servicepersons, persons who have distinguished themselves in assisting the army, working people in Pyongyang, compatriots overseas and the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front.

Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys of different countries and members of the military attaches corps here.

KPA General Ri Yong Ho, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, delivered a report.

He said that the founding of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army by President Kim Il Sung on April 25, Juche 21 (1932) marked the beginning of a new history of the Korean revolution which was started and has victoriously advanced with arms, adding that the revolutionary armed forces of Korea defeated the aggression forces of two imperialisms and emerged victorious in the past anti-Japanese revolutionary war and the Fatherland Liberation War.

He went on:

The People's Army has grown strong to be a-match-for-a hundred revolutionary armed forces under the wise guidance of the Workers' Party of Korea and the leader. It has resolutely defended the security of the country and socialist gains and firmly guaranteed the victorious advance of the revolutionary cause of Juche with arms while frustrating every move of the U.S. imperialists and their stooges to provoke a war, standing on the forefront of the anti-imperialist military front.

The Songun politics being pursued by the WPK is the politics which calls for regarding the military affairs as the most important state affair and carrying out all work related to the revolution and construction in a revolutionary and militant manner with the People's Army as a core and main force. Herein lie the originality of the politics and its invincible might.

The KPA has grown to be powerful revolutionary armed forces with modern offensive and defensive means capable of beating back any enemy's armed invasion at a single blow, winning miraculous victories in the fierce anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. confrontation. As a result, the DPRK is displaying its might as a world military power possessed of war deterrence for self-defence. This is the precious fruition of the outstanding and tested leadership of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il.

The reporter underscored the need for all the party members, servicepersons and people to protect Kim Jong Il politically and ideologically with their lives in any adversity and consolidate the single-minded unity of the Party, the army and the people around the headquarters of the revolution as firm as a rock.

He called on all the servicepersons to thoroughly establish a revolutionary commanding system and military discipline whereby they act as one according to the orders and instructions of Kim Jong Il.

He underscored the need to continue channeling great efforts into the development of the national defence industry as required by the line of socialist economic construction in the Songun era on the principle of giving priority to the military affairs and put the process of modernizing the entire army and arming all the people at a higher level and turn the whole country into an impregnable fortress.

The reporter declared that the DPRK would bolster its war deterrent and take stronger counter-measures to protect the dignity of the country and the nation's right to existence under the situation where the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppets are persisting in their hostile policies toward the DPRK and moves for aggression against it.

Should the U.S. bellicose forces and the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors dare ignite a war of aggression despite the repeated warnings of the DPRK, the KPA and people will respond to it with a decisive and merciless just great war for reunification and wipe out the aggressors to the last man by fully mobilizing all their military potentials and thus accomplish the historic cause of national reunification without fail.
